We work with the materials and proportions of North Kerala — laterite, teak, lime plaster and the logic of the verandah — adapted for how families live today. Our practice spans compact urban plots in Koyilandy to larger villas and commercial buildings across the district.

I started HIDESIGN in Koyilandy because I saw a gap — homeowners across North Kerala were signing contracts with studios who had never visited their site. We go to the site first. Always.
Alongside me are Mujithab, who leads design and 3D visualization, and Shafeeque K.P., who runs construction supervision and project management. Three people who have been with the studio from the early years — and who treat each project as if it is the only one on their desk.
Three hundred buildings later, our approach has not changed: listen to the family, understand the site, draw with care, and build with your own hands on the ground.
A family home on a sloping site at the edge of Koyilandy town. The house steps down with the land rather than fighting it — each level a terrace, each terrace a room. At the centre, an open courtyard draws the sea breeze through every corridor. Laterite, lime plaster and teak joinery in honest proportion.

A double-height living room for a family returning from abroad — their first home in Nadapuram after years away. They asked for light and air. We opened the facade to the paddy view and let the monsoon sky become the fifth wall. Terrazzo floor, teak ceiling, white lime walls.
A contemporary villa on a generous corner plot in Vatakara. The brief was simple — a house that feels large without being ostentatious. We answered it with a low horizontal roof, a deep verandah running the full width of the facade, and a garden court that pulls greenery inside at every turn.
A home designed around the rhythms of a large joint family — three generations under one roof, each wanting their own corner and their own light. The plan organises itself around a central courtyard that all wings share. Private spaces and communal ones, held together by a single datum of stone.
The nadumuttam tradition, reinterpreted for a modern family. A square courtyard at the centre of the plan, with rooms that turn inward toward the sky and toward one another. Brass grilles, lime plaster and a planted central tree. The house breathes, even in April.

Mujithab's 3D renders were so accurate we could see the exact shadow the staircase would cast at 4 PM. When we moved in, the house matched the renders room by room. That kind of precision is rare in Kozhikode.
They took our very confused brief — Gulf-modern but also Kerala-traditional — and turned it into something we are proud of every morning. The courtyard was their idea, not ours. It is the best part of the house.

It begins with a site visit — free of charge. One of the principals meets you at your plot, understands the brief, and returns with an initial concept sketch within the week. We do not start on drawings without a site visit first.
Our primary focus is Koyilandy, Nadapuram and the wider Kozhikode district. We take projects across North Kerala — Kannur, Vatakara, Thalassery and surrounding areas — and assess each on its merits.
Both. We offer architecture and design-only engagements, but many clients prefer our full-service package — design, 3D visualization, working drawings and supervised construction management under one roof. The result is almost always better when the designer and the builder are the same team.
Design and approvals take 4 to 8 weeks. Construction for a typical 2,500–3,500 sqft home runs 12 to 18 months depending on scope and material choices. We give you an honest schedule before we start, and we stick to it.
Design fees depend on scope — we discuss and fix them transparently before signing anything. For construction management, our fees are a percentage of build value. We believe clients should know the full cost before they commit, not after.
